Air Canada has just become the world’s first airline to provide passengers access to Disney+ Originals via its in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.
The move allows Air Canada to offer even more opportunities for flyers of all ages to enjoy original programming onboard. Its latest investment in terms of enhancing the family-focused, the new partnership underscores the carrier’s commitment to elevating its award-winning customer experience.
Starting this month, passengers can queue up select episodes of Disney+ Original series across all IFE-enabled aircraft, including the Star Wars universe’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, Season 1 of Marvel Studios' Loki, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Cars on the Road and Zootopia+; or, call up Disney+ Original movies like Disenchanted and Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.
"We are thrilled to bring Disney+ Original series and films to our in-flight entertainment, further solidifying our expansive range of leading content. Families with kids and enthusiasts alike will enjoy watching familiar favorites and exciting new Originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more. Taking in a Disney+ Original is a great way for our global customers to start or end their journey with us," said John Moody, Managing Director, Product Design at Air Canada.
This marks the latest in a string of projects the airline has undertaken in partnership with Disney, a brand that’s famous all around the globe. Previous successful collaborations have included a Walt Disney World Resort-themed in-flight safety video, Walt Disney World-themed children's area at Toronto Pearson's Transborder Maple Leaf Lounge and an exclusive aircraft livery donned to celebrate Disney-Pixar's acclaimed film, Turning Red, with more on the way.
This year, Air Canada has received several prestigious awards recognizing its commitment to family-friendly air travel, including taking home the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards trophy for “Best Family-Friendly Airline in North America” for the fifth consecutive year; and the Wherever Awards’ title as “Best Family-Friendly International Airline” for the fourth year in a row.
Earlier this year, Air Canada also won the Airline Passenger Experience Association’s (APEX) Passenger Choice Award for “Best Entertainment in North America” and Global Traveler named Air Canada the “Best Airline for Onboard Entertainment” for the fifth year running.
Customers can now enjoy an extensive selection of content on all IFE-equipped aircraft, including more than 420 movies, over 1,000 TV episodes, 130 music albums, podcasts and much more. All of this content is provided to passengers free of charge, enhancing their travel experience from takeoff to landing.
