Travelers now have new options to save them time and headaches when traveling to Europe, thanks to an innovative new Air Canada program.
The airline announced new air-to-rail booking options for customers to connect at European airports to four passenger rail systems. Through new partnerships, Air Canada customers can purchase a flight and also book onward rail trips to many destinations in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The net result is an easy and seamless travel itinerary.
Thanks to this new European intermodal initiative, customers can now connect with the Lufthansa Express Rail Product as well as with AccesRail & WorldTicket. This means a streamlined booking process with trips on trains operated by France's TGV-SNCF Voyageurs, Germany's Deutsche Bahn, Swiss Federal Railways or ÖBB, the national railway of Austria.
Making things even more simple, customers are able to check in for all segments of their trip prior to departure, avoiding the need to obtain a train ticket at the station. And in the case of any flight disruptions, all air and rail segments will automatically be rebooked, providing peace of mind for all travelers.
Air Canada's partnership portfolio now includes three joint business agreements, 39 codeshares, 120 interline, and four intermodal rail options to more than 1,200 destinations. Plus, the airline has unveiled an expanded international summer 2024 flying schedule. This includes plans for 100% of its peak summer 2019 trans-Atlantic capacity. And that includes 53 routes to 31 cities in not just Europe, but also to Africa, the Middle East, and India. The Toronto and Montreal hubs will respectively rank third and fifth largest in North America, in terms of average daily trans-Atlantic seats; the airline is committed to further developing these hubs’ trans-Atlantic footprint in the coming years.
