River cruise operator AmaWaterways this week launched AmaMagna, the company's newest deluxe river cruise ship, at an exclusive Oktoberfest event in Vilshofen, Germany, followed by the ship's inaugural voyage from Vilshofen to Budapest, Hungary.
The new 196-passenger river vessel features a multi-level lounge and a main restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows. AmaMagna also offers guests two additional dining venues, the Al Fresco restaurant and Jimmy's, the latter named for the late Jimmy Murphy, one of AmaWaterways' original co-founders and co-owners.
"This ship represents a labor of love for so many people who contributed groundbreaking ideas, as well as a lot of hard work that was done by the team to bring my dream project to reality," said Rudi Schreiner, AmaWaterways' president and co-founder.
AmaMagna will be christened by her Godmother, travel expert and Emmy Award-winning television host Samantha Brown, at a July 11 ceremony in Grein, Austria. The ship's voyages will focus on the Danube River and include Romantic Danube, Melodies of the Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube itineraries.
Ama Magna's staterooms and suites measure between 355 and 710 square feet and feature outside balconies, open seating areas and bathrooms equipped with double sinks and walk-in showers. Six Grand Suites (measuring 474 square feet) and an Owner's Suite (710 square feet) offer additional guest amenities plus spa-style bathtubs.
Onboard amenities are highlighted by a cinema, a shopping boutique and a Zen Wellness Studio featuring stretching, cardio and core-strengthening plus spin sessions led by a professionally trained wellness host.
The Studio includes a juice bar and two massage rooms; the facility also offers manicure, pedicure and hair services. A top-floor sun deck includes a large heated pool, whirlpool and bar. Sun deck facilities are accessible via a pop-up elevator serving all four decks.
AmaMagna will also offer guests an exclusive Concierge Golf Program, featuring opportunities to experience play at top-level golf courses in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany.
