American Cruise Lines’ newest ship, American Legend, is setting sail on its inaugural voyage Monday.
The 100-guest Coastal Cat ship is embarking on the line’s eight-day “Florida Gulf Coast & Keys” itinerary, which sails roundtrip from St. Petersburg, Florida.
The cruise visits Marco Island, Key West and Punta Gorda, with an optional pre-cruise hotel stay in Tampa. As the ship explores the Gulf Coast, travelers have a wide variety of shore excursions to choose from, including a full day adventure in Dry Tortugas National Park.
The ship will be christened this week at a ceremony on Wednesday at Mallory Square in Key West.
Dee Dee Henriquez, the mayor of Key West, is the ship’s godmother. She’ll be on site for the ceremony, along with cruise guests and American Cruise Lines executives. The next day, guests will be treated to a Thanksgiving holiday meal with all the fixings.
American Legend is the line’s second new ship to debut this year, and it’s 19th new ship overall.
