Travelers hoping to capture the breathtaking beauty of Antarctica with a camera have a new, immersive option for visiting the White Continent: Aurora Expeditions is launching a new themed photography expedition cruise in February 2026.
The 12-day voyage, called “Antarctic Explorer: Through the Lens,” will be guided by accomplished wildlife and landscape photographers, including lead photographer Nigel Danson, plus Mads Peter Iverson, Rachel Bigsby, Scott Portelli, James Popsys and others.
“Antarctica feels unlike anywhere else on Earth,” says Danson. “I’ve wanted to visit since I watched David Attenborough presenting a BBC show about leopard seals when I was just eight years old, and for me it represents the pinnacle of photographic and nature adventures. “This trip will be my third visit, and I’m every bit as excited as my first.
Since daylight lasts for 18 to 24 hours during summer in the Southern Hemisphere, travelers will have a lot of time to capture the perfect image. They’ll also learn about things like camera setup, composition enhancement and craft refinement, whether they’re using a camera or a smartphone.
"Aurora Expeditions is all about immersive, educational and adventurous small ship experiences in some of the world’s most remote destinations," says Greg Cormier, chief marketing officer at Aurora Expeditions. "We’re thrilled to be offering our passengers the opportunity to learn from this group of exceptionally talented photographers."
