In a bid to give back to the communities it visits, Celestyal Cruises is supporting two charitable initiatives this year: blood donations and the fight against breast cancer.
The cruise line held a blood drive onboard Celestyal Journey last month in partnership with the Metaxa Hospital of Piraeus, Greece. Since 2016, Celestyal has held twice-yearly blood drives for onboard crew members and corporate employees. The company also encourages travelers to visit a public hospital and donate in the account of Celestyal Blood Bank. Since the initiative began, Celestyal has donated 166 units of blood.
“At Celestyal, we take immense pride in supporting the communities we serve, both locally and globally,” says Chris Theophilides, chief executive officer at Celestyal. “Our ongoing blood donation campaign is not only a testament to our commitment to providing critical medical aid, but also an opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Celestyal also participated in the 16th Greece Race for the Cure, which took place last month and supports women battling breast cancer. The winner received a voucher for a 4-night cruise for two on the Celestyal Discovery on the “Iconic Aegean Summer” itinerary.
“We are also thrilled to be participating in this year’s Race for the Cure, a cause close to our hearts,” says Theophilides. “By coming together as a team, across multiple countries, we aim to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. It’s a privilege to be part of such meaningful initiatives, and we encourage everyone to join us in supporting these vital causes.”
