Delta Air lines is bolstering its overseas routes to Europe and Asia in the coming year. The Atlanta-based carrier is introducing a new nonstop from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to Copenhagen Airport (CPH), according to The Points Guy.In addition, the carrier will resume service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). This is the first time since COVID-19 pandemic began that Delta will fly to Shanghai. The additional Delta route to China comes at a time when service between the U.S. and China remains below 2019 levels. The new route to CPH meanwhile, is possible thanks to a recently inked code share agreement with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), per The Points Guy. Delta’s first flight on the new route will be offered in May 2025.With the addition of the Minneapolis to Copenhagen flights, Delta will have seven European non-stops from its U.S. hub city for summer 2025. Earlier this month the carrier announced a significantly enhanced summer 2025 schedule for Europe. Some of the additional offerings include flights to Rome, Naples, Milan, Barcelona and Dublin.Altogether, Delta will offer about 5 percent more seats to Europe this coming summer than it did in 2024. The carrier has said the the outlook for travel demand remains strong.
As for Shanghai, the carrier plans to begin service there sometime in June 2025, pending government approval. The last time Delta has flown this route was back in 2020. In 2019, Delta flew more than 300 round-trips between Shanghai and L.A.
