Disney Cruise Line has officially welcomed the Disney Treasure to its fleet.
On Tuesday, the company held a christening celebration on the Hudson River in New York City, with a light show featuring 1,000 drones lighting up the night sky. The drones brought to life the characters of “Aladdin,” “Haunted Mansion,” “Moana”
and “Coco.” Singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks also performed the ship’s anthem, “Live the Adventure.”
At the end of the ceremony, the drones formed a 65-foot-tall champagne bottle that burst into bubbling pyrotechnics. Meanwhile, the ship’s godparents—all
of the employees of The Walt Disney Company—recited a traditional blessing to give the ship good fortune.
Starting December 21, Disney Treasure will homeport at Port Canaveral, Florida, and offer 7-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
“For more than 100 years, Disney stories have filled the world with joy and wonder, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations across every continent," Bob Iger, chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, said to kick off the celebration.
"And since the launch of the Disney Cruise Line in 1998, our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling and the immersive nature of our theme parks to new audiences in new places all over the world."
“We also know that at the heart of everything we do at Disney are the dedicated Cast Members and employees who create the magic that brings joy to millions of people around the globe, and we are proud to honor our employees as the official godparents
of the Disney Treasure," Iger continued.
