EPCOT’s multi-year transformation was officially declared complete in June, but Walt Disney himself said “Epcot will always be in a state of becoming. It will never cease to be a living blueprint of the future.”
So while EPCOT understandably didn’t get as much attention during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event as Walt Disney World’s three other theme parks, we did get new information about the reimagining of Test Track, plus a surprise announcement about a new Spaceship Earth Lounge.
Reimagined Test Track Opens in 2025
Walt Disney Imagineering and Chevrolet are collaborating on a new iteration of Test Track, which will honor past, present, and future advancements in automotive technology. The queue will feature six unique exhibits, each spotlighting vehicles and the individuals who brought them to life.
New ride scenes will focus on the connection between mobility and lifestyle, highlighting onboard technology, customization, personalization, and the simple pleasures of a scenic drive.
Construction is now underway on the new iteration of Test Track, which will open in 2025. In the meantime, guests passing by during a visit to World Discovery may spot nods to the original World of Motion pavilion already visible on the new exterior.
Spaceship Earth Lounge Opens in 2025
It turns out even World Celebration isn’t quite complete yet. Disney surprised everyone with the announcement that a new Spaceship Earth-inspired lounge will open in 2025.
Described as a “zen space to gather and enjoy refreshments,” concept art shows geometric floor, ceiling, and wall details, spherical light fixtures and views of World Celebration Gardens, the Land and Imagination pavilions, and fireworks in the distance over World Showcase Lagoon.
