A big part of that success is the result of the movie being filmed in and around Los Alamos—a key location for the Manhattan Project—and nearby Santa Fe, New Mexico.
"Several Manhattan Project era buildings were utilized in the making of the movie including the Oppenheimer house where J. Robert Oppenheimer and his wife Kitty raised their family," the National Park Service states.
