Lessons Learned in Founding a Luxury Travel Agency

My journey in founding a luxury travel agency has brought me fulfillment and experiences that make me want to pinch myself to see if I am dreaming.

This journey has not always been great, in fact it has had its shares of ups and downs. 

I have learned some valuable lessons that have helped me grow in the luxury travel sector.

Don’t sell from your own pocket

This is a practice where a travel advisor may limit their sales potential by offering lesser travel based on the travel advisor’s budget instead of the client.  This is why you should ask open ended questions in the vetting stage to get a true understanding of the client’s budget.

Make sure you solve a problem for your community

It's crucial to understand the needs and desires of your target audience and ensure that your luxury travel agency provides solutions to their problems. Make sure you are fulfilling a need in your community to build a loyal client base.

Always learn how to provide value

Just because your clients may have larger budgets doesn't mean they like wasting money. It's important to understand how to provide value in your services and not just sell extravagance.

Continue training and increasing your knowledge

The travel industry is constantly evolving, and it's essential to stay updated with the latest trends and information. Take every opportunity to train and increase your knowledge to provide the best possible service to your clients.

Network and build strong industry relationships

Networking and building strong relationships with industry professionals are critical for a luxury travel agency. Attend industry events, connect with hoteliers, tour operators, and other professionals in the travel industry to build a network that can benefit your clients.

By implementing these lessons, you can create a successful luxury travel agency that provides exceptional service to your clients.
