If you are planning to hit the road for Thanksgiving, here’s one alternative: Take the bus!
Flix North America — the parent company of FlixBus and Greyhound — offers another way to travel instead of driving your own vehicle or taking an airplane. And it’s not uncommon.
FlixBus and Greyhound have experienced a consistent 10 percent-plus year-over-year ridership growth during November and December from 2021 to 2023.
“In response to this growing demand, FlixBus and Greyhound have expanded services on popular routes such as New York to Washington, D.C., and Boston to New York," said head of communications at Flix North America Karina Frayter.
"Passengers on these routes can save significantly by choosing bus travel over air, with comparable — or even shorter — total travel times when considering airport procedures," Frayter continued. "For instance, on routes like Los Angeles to San Diego and New York City to Philadelphia, bus travel times are often on par with or quicker than air travel when accounting for check-in, baggage drop, and security."
Taking Flix or Greyhound offers affordability on key routes for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The lowest ticket prices on FlixBus are consistently more affordable than airline fares.
Bus travel also has fewer delays and cancellations, as well as free Wi-Fi.
