Walt Disney World Resort fans will
delight in the latest details to emerge about the highly-anticipated new Island
Tower coming to Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Slated for
opening on December 17, 2024, this new development will bring a host of
tropical-inspired features designed to immerse guests in the enchanting
atmosphere of the Polynesian Islands.
New Wailulu Bar
& Grill
One highlight of
the new Island Tower is the Wailulu Bar & Grill, a walk-up pool eatery where
guests can indulge in the rich flavors of Polynesia. True to its name, which
combines the Hawaiian words "wai" (water) and "lulu"
(calm), the restaurant offers serene views of the Seven Seas Lagoon, creating an
idyllic dining experience.
The venue will
feature both indoor and outdoor seating options, with a spacious bar area that
offers a stunning view of Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom Park. This
casual dining venue will offer an all-day menu, available for lunch and dinner,
that’s influenced by ingredients indigenous to the Polynesian Islands. In the
morning hours, Wailulu Bar & Grill will also serve select breakfast items,
such as specialty coffee and on-the-go pastries.
The dining area
will be decorated with Polynesian-inspired artwork, including intricate fish
sculptures made from recycled materials, reclaimed fishing nets and a grand
textile piece in the bar area symbolizing a colorful coral reef. A standout
feature will be an abstract Polynesian Stick Chart, a nod to ancient navigation
tools used by islanders, displayed prominently in the center of the dining
room.
Meanwhile, fans of
Disney’s "Moana" will be delighted to find a painting of the famous wayfinding
princess, Moana, on display in the restaurant, adding to the immersive
Polynesian experience.
New Pool and
Splash Area
Young would-be wayfarers
who feel a kinship with the Polynesian princess will delight in Moana’s Voyage,
a playful new splash area for children. It comes complete with life-size
sculptures of Moana and her iconic canoe, borrowed straight from the screen of
the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film.
The Island Tower
will also introduce the Cove Pool, a new zero-entry pool that’s designed to provide
plenty of opportunities for guests to relax and unwind. Available for use by
both Disney Vacation Club members and resort guests, these new aquatic spaces
provide a much-needed place to cool off in the Florida sunshine.
New Tropical Terrace
Gardens
For those seeking
a serene retreat, the Island Tower will offer exclusive access to four
beautifully designed topical terrace gardens. Each will feature lush foliage, inspired
artwork, and specially themed seating areas, creating a peacefully secluded
spot for families to decompress.
These terrace
gardens will also offer spectacular views over Disney’s Oak Trail and Magnolia
Golf Courses, as well as the Seven Seas Lagoon, making them a perfect vantage
point for watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
