Yes, you can travel to some of the world’s greatest cities and do it affordably.
A recent study by DIPNDIVE revealed the top 10 best cities for budget travelers based on a comprehensive analysis of various key factors. The data used in this study included the number of free tourist attractions, average cost of living, meal prices at inexpensive restaurants, weather index scores, and average hotel prices in cities worldwide.
That includes one cosmopolitan city where you can find a hotel room for as little as eight bucks a night and another where you can have a meal for less than $4.
Bet the survey sounds kind of appealing now, doesn’t it?
The surprisingly affordable cities are Rome, Bangkok, Lisbon, Budapest, Prague, Madrid, Athens, Zagreb, Bucharest and Warsaw. Yes, Rome—the one in Italy—is surprisingly affordable when you factor in the numerous free and historical attractions in the city.
Bangkok offers the lowest average hotel price at just eight dollars and the most affordable meal price of $3.14. Lisbon stands out with the highest weather index based on the metrics used, which allows visitors to enjoy outdoor activities year-round. Cities that offered a greater number of free attractions, lower costs and better weather were ranked higher on the list.
Needless to say, you could hopscotch around Europe fairly inexpensively.
