Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the name and more details about its newest ship: the Norwegian Luna.
The Prima Plus Class vessel will begin sailing from Miami on April 4, 2026. In its inaugural season, Norwegian Luna will offer itineraries in the Western and Eastern Caribbean.
Norwegian Luna will be 10 percent larger than the cruise line’s Prima Class ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. The 156,300-gross-ton vessel will measure 1,056 feet long and will be able to accommodate up to 3,550 guests at double occupancy.
Norwegian Luna is being designed and built as a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, which is slated for delivery in March 2025. The twin vessels are being constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with their interior designs coming from AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design and Studio Dado
To adorn the vessel’s hull, Norwegian tapped California-based street artist ELLE, who has worked with brands like Nike, Reebok and Ralph Lauren. ELLE’s hull design, which will be featured on the ship’s bow, is called “La Luna.”
“Inspired by the relationship between the moon and the tides of the ocean, we are excited to introduce Norwegian Luna as the vessel that perfectly complements her sister ship, Norwegian Aqua,” says David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
Norwegian Luna will feature a wide array of amenities and offerings, including the three-story, hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide called Aqua Slidecoaster that will debut on Norwegian Aqua next year. The ship will also have a digital sports complex called the Glow Court, as well as the 10-story free-fall slide called The Drop.
Travelers can also enjoy Ocean Boulevard, the 46,000-square-foot outdoor walkway that wraps around the entire ship; an adults-only, open-air lounge called the Vibe Beach Club; the Infinity Beach; and a large upper pool deck with day beds.
In terms of dining, Norwegian Luna will feature the brand’s Thai specialty restaurant, Sukhothai, as well as the Indulge Food Hall with 10 different food stations. Other Norwegian favorites will also be onboard, including Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro, Onda by Scarpetta, Whiskey Bar, Belvedere Bar and Metropolitan
For guests looking for a more exclusive experience, Norwegian Luna will have the brand’s ship-within-a-ship concept, The Haven by Norwegian. Inside, travelers can retreat to three-bedroom duplex suites, take advantage of 24-hour butler service, relax on the sundeck or take a dip in the infinity pool overlooking the stern. The Haven by Norwegian will also have an outdoor spa, two hot tubs, a private lounge and an exclusive bar serving rare spirits and vintages
“The debut of Norwegian Luna truly showcases our ongoing commitment to providing guests more of what they enjoy and value—a brand-new ship with the latest, innovative offerings sailing to the beautiful, tropical destinations of the Caribbean,” says Herrera. “It’s important to give our guests more to see, more to do, more to enjoy on board and ultimately more out of their cruise vacation. We can’t wait for them to experience Norwegian Luna.”
