The largest private island resort in the British Virgin Islands is set to open in just a few weeks.
Peter Island Resort, which shuttered in 2017 to undergo renovations, will begin welcoming guests again on December 1.
“We’re please to announce our official opening date,” David Van Ansel, president of Peter Island Resort, said in a statement, adding that he is “excited to introduce guests to an exquisitely reimagined resort with the same beauty and charm that has enchanted visitors for decades.”
Over the past several yeas, the 52-room resort been transformed to offer an elevated luxury travel experience. That effort has included relocating the heart of the resort to the island’s picturesque stretch of Deadman’s Beach and creating stunning new beachfront rooms and suites.
The resort also now features two redesigned villas, two restaurants and a 10,000-square-foot seaside spa. There’s also an expanded events and meetings area.
In addition, what was once Sprat Bay Marina is now the enhanced and expanded Peter Island Yacht Club, which has been reconfigured to better accommodate a greater variety of vessels. The yacht club also includes a swimming pool and a recreational area that features lawn games, kickball, bocce ball and basketball courts.
The island itself, meanwhile includes hundreds of lush tropical acres and five beaches. It is surrounded by blue-green waters that are ideal for waterspouts, swimming, sailing, fishing and snorkeling.
Rates at the resort start at $1,000 per night.
