Weddings require vision, creativity and attention to detail and destination weddings are no exception.

ALG Vacations spoke with Gilberto Machain, director of weddings for Gourmet Inclusive Karisma Hotels & Resorts to find out the best way to plan the perfect dream wedding.

ALGV discovered that robust inclusions and perks make destination weddings very practical and affordable. While many people might think that a destination wedding is harder to plan, with the help of a travel advisor, they have about the same number of moving parts as a wedding nearer home. Additionally, if couples "Go With a Pro" they will be able to find the vendors they need and they will be matched with a resort that offers the proper inclusions for the type of ceremony they desire.

Machain provided advice to couples that included visiting the resort in advance.

“Meet with the wedding team to go over all the wedding options they offer, taste the wedding reception menus, taste the cake flavors!” He says. “You will feel at ease once you experience the resort services and meet with the staff that will help you plan your wedding," he said.

He also recommended infusing the culture of the destination into the special event.

“Infuse a bit of the destination’s culture into your wedding events, like the cuisine, drinks, music, and décor. This will make sure your guests experience a new culture and try new things … and make your wedding unforgettable," he noted.

Machain also told ALGV that couples can think outside the box regarding the timing of the trip.

“In recent years, there have been many changes and one of them is that there is no longer really a high or low season for weddings,” Machain says. “Nowadays, couples are more aware of their guests’ free time, which has made weddings a pretty stable occurrence year-round," he said.
