Gen Z and Millennial travelers are more likely to travel internationally over the holidays than other generations, according to a new survey conducted by Enterprise Mobility.
The survey, which asked just under 1,500 U.S. residents their holiday travel plans, found that 10 percent of all trips this season will be international, an increase of three percent year-over-year.
The two youngest generations of adult travelers are planning international trips four percent more than last winter.
Those who are traveling internationally this winter are visiting Mexico (11 percent of travelers), Canada (nine percent of travelers) and the United Kingdom (seven percent of travelers).
Thirty-four percent of those heading out on vacations this winter are planning to fly, with 38 percent planning to rent a car in their destination. Overall, 24 percent of holiday trips will include a rental car.
"We are seeing an increased overall preference for air travel, which is up about three points year over year," said Bridget Long, senior vice president of North American operations at Enterprise Mobility. "We anticipate this to boost demand for vehicle rentals at airports. We are well equipped to handle demand for holiday travelers at the airport and in neighborhood branches this season."
