Marriott International, Inc. is helping event planners to measure and reduce their event’s carbon emissions with a new program, Connect Responsibly, which is a feature of Marriott Bonvoy events.
Connect Responsibly will go live at properties around the globe by the end of October. It offers event planners access to comprehensive Meeting Impact Reports and ways to offset the carbon emissions produced by those events through purchasing carbon credits.
The reports are available to see after an event has occurred and will be available in 11 different languages. It will cover such things like sustainability practices implemented during the event, its carbon and water footprints and more.
Then, in a partnership with carbon asset developer South Pole, event planners can choose from a range of carbon offset projects to purchase.
“Meetings and events are important business for Marriott. Our customers are eager to participate in sustainability efforts. Connect Responsibly expands ongoing initiatives and strengthens our efforts focused on sustainability in hospitality,” said Tammy Routh, Senior Vice President, Global Sales, Marriott International.
“We are excited to build on our sustainability reporting capabilities to provide our meetings and events customers with detailed Meeting Impact Reports and offer access to a select portfolio of verified carbon offset projects, through our collaboration with South Pole," Routh continued.
Connect Responsibly is part of Marriott's carbon emissions reduction efforts as verified by Science Based Targets initiative and its Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction ESG program.
