Uber wants to help travelers navigate the busy holiday season ahead more smoothly.
Think: Non-stop crowds, long lines and the practically predictable delays. Uber wants to do its part to help ease the stress associated with all of these things.
To do that, the ride hailing platform has introduced a few new products and features. Here’s a closer look.
UberXXL
Got luggage? Lots of it? Uber is launching UberXXL to help with that.
“With UberXXL, you’ll have access to larger trunk space, perfect for airport pick-ups and drop-offs when you have extra baggage, plus comfortable seating for you and your group,” says the Uber website.
UberXXL is now available for rides to and from more than 60 airports globally, including 40 in the United States and Canada.
In addition, between Wednesday, November 20 and Sunday, December 1, Uber is offering eligible Uber One members $20 Uber Cash back on their next UberXXL ride.
UberX Share at Airport
Looking for ways to trim your holiday travel budget? (And travel more eco-friendly while you're at it?) UberX Share may be able to help with that, also.
UberX Share airport rides offer travelers a “more affordable, hassle-free travel option.” Using this option, travelers can share their trip with just one other airport traveler and save up to 25% compared to UberX fares. As an added bonus, the discount will be applied even in cases when you’re not matched with a co-rider.
UberX Share at airports will be available starting today in the U.S. at AUS (Austin), DEN (Denver), EWR (New York), IAD (Washington, D.C.), MIA (Miami), MSY (New Orleans), PHX (Phoenix), SFO (San Francisco), and internationally at AMS (Amsterdam) and MAD (Madrid) – with more to come.
The addition of UberX Share is just the most recent attempt from Uber to capture the attention of price-conscious consumers in the United States. Earlier this year, the company introduced a new shuttle
service and expanded its partnership with Costco in a bid to stay ahead of
rival Lyft.
New Uber Reserve Features
Planning ahead for the holidays? Uber Reserve makes it easy to schedule airport rides with features that are tailor made for travel planning.
Using the new Flight Capture feature, riders can enter flight details for a recommended best time to leave to help ensure a timely and stress-free airport arrival. And that’s not all.
“Our flight-tracking capability will alert riders if their flight gets delayed, and we’ll ask them whether they want to adjust their airport drop off accordingly," says Uber.
Riders can also now add multiple stops when reserving a ride, perfect for picking up family, dropping off gifts, or making quick detours during the holiday rush.
